There are a lot of good things about it, but the thing that rubbed me the wrong way was that I think it's the one that tries the hardest to make Kong sympathetic, but he actually comes off as less sympathetic than in the original. In the original he just comes off like a wild animal that humans stupidly decided to try and domesticate, so it isn't really fair that he has to die.
