Meade Telestar 4.5" w/ autostar, good for beginner AP?

Sup fam, I'm currently in the midst of trying to get into astrophotography. Nothing professional just good enough to wow people on my ig. I have an 8" dob but its not motorized. I recently remembered that my brother had an old dept. store scope he got many years ago. Did some digging in the attic and pulled out a meade newtonian with and autostar equatorial mount. Dustier then hell and no dust cap on it but the primary mirror looks to be decent, even good condition. Have yet to clean it up for hook it up to stellaris, but before I get to into it, I had some questions. Is this telescope compatible/decent for AP?What would be a good mount? I already have a DSLR.Can I get at least a somewhat sick long exposure shot of m42 with this? Thanks for any and all feedback! I know people on here are always asking about getting into AP, so your patience is appreciated! via /r/telescopes http://ift.tt/2sdbAxm
