The time I was told to go away because I was unemployed

I think this would fit hereI was unemployed and on Jobseeker's Allowance for about a year between 2012-2013 before I ended up going back to study because you know what, the Job Centre sucks and wasn't doing me any favours. I'd been doing the usual thing of looking around for jobs to apply for and found one going in a branch of a 'Surfer/Outdoors Lifestyle Outfitters' type shop and it was a typical 'part time, 8 hours a week, please bring us your CV' type role and so it seemed worth a shot, entry level, minimum wage, would be better than nothing, very local to my house so I was pretty sure I had a decent chance.I turned up to the shop with my CV to drop it off. Someone who seemed to be a manager showed up and asked me if I was looking for full or part time work, I admitted I'd be happy with either. The manager didn't seem impressed with this and asked me what I was doing, I told him I was completely unemployed. Apparently this wasn't good enough for him because 'Oh we're ideally looking for a student' (despite not indicating that in the job description) and claimed that as I was completely unemployed that 'I'd leave when I found 'something better' (Oh sorry here's me thinking that you'd employ me and I'd work for you and you'd like after a while give me more hours? I thought that was how jobs worked? Sorry my mistake).Honestly I remember during that encounter getting rather annoyed at the manager/supervisor who was talking to me and having to step out of the shop. But then for all I know maybe I dodged a bullet if that was how they treated someone coming in to potentially apply for a job?(I did attempt to contact the company in question who 'investigated' and said 'Oh but we spoke to him but he said the issue was you asked for full time when they weren't offering it' which wasn't what I said but whatever) via /r/recruitinghell http://ift.tt/2uOaaJf
