Low dose stimulant

Im thinking of asking to begin on a tiny dose of a stimulant for ADHD. Something smaller than even the beginning dose for whats recommended for a child.. but I wont start if itll be absolutely necessary for me to constantly increase the dose. My attention is generally OK, if i do have ADHD it is mild.Im wondering if there could be any benefit in maintaining a very low dose. I know that tolerance will develop, but i have a few questions.. 1. Will low doses be excitotoxic 2. Is there a qualitative difference between a brain not on stimulants and one on a stimulant but tolerant to it ( motivation wise, glutamate, ect.) i know there may be more receptors, but in terms of things like memory, learning, mood ect. Is there a difference between more neurotransmitters plus the accommodation and less neurotransmitters and no accommodation?Thank you!! via /r/Psychiatry http://ift.tt/2u4fRVT
